What it claims to do:Boost your energy for five hours – without the caffeine crash later.

I was thrilled when I discovered the product at a truck stop on a long road trip a few years back, and was amazed at well it works. But I agree that they should be used in moderation.

I've found that drinking one every morning for a couple of weeks will lower the drink's effectiveness. I think the body gets used to 8000% of its B12 requirements, which may not be a good thing. So not only is it healthier to drink it occasionally, it also makes sure the product stays effective for you.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

That all sounds pretty good to me. Ok, so if you guzzle 5 of them at once, there contains enough niacin to potentially cause nerve toxicity - but hell, if you do 5 shots of tequila at once, you're likely to fall over drunk. So yeah, even good stuff in large enough quantities are no good. Sure seems a whole lot better than any of the alternatives out there.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

It works as stated. Biologically you want to increase Adenosine Triphospate (ATP). After 17 years in nutrition and over $100 million in sales to tens of thousands of consumers I have learned a thing or two about what works best for most people (people continue to purchase what delivers results). The best I have ever found are the adaptogens Schizandra, Rhodiola, Eluthero, & Cordyceps. Research on scholar.google.com will yield over 43,000 citations in the literature and when you consider these botanical extracts have been used in some cases for thousands of years safely, well, why not try them.

I was a 30 year, 1,000mg per day caffeine user prior to switching to the adaptogens. One catch, you must consume clinically efficacious levels of each one, but still it tips the scales at about a third of what the 5-hour energy will set you back and actual blood tests have proven over and over again the actual increase in ATP in your body. More "energy" No crash, no side effects.

Have a groovy day
tommyj

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

FRS (Lance Armstrong) has an energy program that seems to work, too. The problem I found with that was their web-site offers a 2 week trial supply but doesn't tell you you are signing up for an automatic re-supply ($70 per month). You can find this at the end of a 6 page contract you agree to by ordering the free trial. The contract is found by clicking a obscure link on the web-site. This turned me off and expended all the energy in frustration. I trusted Lance Armstrong!

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

If you are looking for lasting energy, try the world's first Multivitamin with sales of $3Billion.
https://broaden.mychoices.biz/Retail/Products.aspx?PG=3

And an energy drink brand named XS with 9 flavors and all less than 16 calories

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

there is even a better energy tonic out there called xtra sharp. The first and only healty & nutritious energy drink (3 years running) goes to drinkACT.com. That is the company website, not mine. If you really looked into what's in your typical energy drinks, be it cans, candy or shots. You would be looking for a safer alternative. drinkACT knew this 3 years ago, that when after the public caught wind of what these so called energy drinks are doing to them, they would be turning to a better way of getting energy in a safer way. Healthy energy drinks are the next trend because people want what's good for them.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Tried it a coupkle of times. It didn't do squat.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Welcome to the world of performance enhancement! They may not be called "drugs," but they do what all performance enhancing products do -- whether it is coffee, an energy bar, aspirin, antibiotics or steroids -- they alter the body's chemistry to achieve a result the body is not otherwise capable of producing. What makes this product any different than many of the products athletes use to compete better? Is it safer? Even vitamins taken in excess can cause significant problems, as discussed above. Before you start attacking athletes for using performance enhancing products, think about the supercharged cup of coffee you had this morning to help you start the day and to help you accomplish your job (if you are lucky enough to be working!).

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

My wife and I generally split one and find that that having just 2.5 hours worth is plenty for an evening out.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Look at all the 5 hour haters, its great sorry your drinks wont be getting my money

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Is there something wrong with me? I heard all of this good stuff about the 5Hr and it made my stomach feel sick and didn't do anything for my energy level....Hmmmm.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

The stuff's doggone expensive! One day I was really dragging. I didn't sleep well the night before (about 4 hours), and I had a very busy day at work. I had a game that night at 10pm. I thought "How the hell am I going to play a game tonight? Against the first place team, no less." I used to drink Sugar Free Red Bull before my late games, but I never really thought it worked that well. I saw a commercial for 5 hour energy and decided to give it a try that night, since there is a 7-11 on the way to the rink. I tried it that night and I couldn't believe how well I did. No, we didn't win the game, but we only lost 2-1 against a team that beaten us by 4 the last time we played them. I liked the results so I tried 1 before my next game as well. The results were the same: fantastic. I was physically quicker, and mentally sharper. I now take 1 before every game, and I recommend them to all my team mates and friends.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

I was skeptical, but thought I'd give 5-hour energy a try to get me past the afternoon wall. Were we all sedentary due to not having energy ? Maybe if you're falling asleep while driving (in which case, take a rest or have someone else drive) or working serious overtime I MIGHT be able to see possibly using this. But I must say I don't see the need nor want for products like this. I'm a fairly active person and have my lazy moments but I'm never in need of an energy boost. I don't drink coffee or soda, just juice and water and I'm fine. So again, how did we ever get by without these products ?

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Not Worth the money. Alright, i am a 21 year old civil servent. so the whole 8 to 5, mon-friday gig. any way i drink 5 hour energy from time to time, some times with energy drinks, other times by themselves, and some times with a light breakfast. i am tall, and a little heavier. i find the taste is rather bad for all of the 5 hour energy drinks. i get only a couple of hours of sleep a night and these things on some days will help wake me up a little bit and on other days they do nothing. however by 1pm, 5 hours later, i get the crash that 5 hour energy says it doesnt have. i feel very tired, very unfocused (hell, i am writing this right now while i should be working), fast heart beat, a twitch in my left middle finger and left eye, jittery, and a numbness in my toes and legs. however, because i have to work for another 4 or more hours, i will drink a soda, another energy drink, or coffee.... and that keeps me awake until i get home by 6ish and then i feel like crashing, but i decide to actually do stuff around the house and go to bed later. i do feel it gives me some energy, but only enough to get me awake, it doesnt help with focusing, and the crash for me is really bad, and it takes other caffinated products, and nicotine to bring me back up again.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Please people, if you are tired enough to be downing these drinks all the time there could be a much more serious sleep disorder involved. Have your Dr. send you in for a Sleep Study and get checked out. Excessive daytime fatigue can be caused by serious issues such as sleep apnea. If you just want a little extra energy on the weekends like the author, that's one thing. But if you are becomming dependant on these just to make it through the day then something else IS causing your fatigue.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Just swallowed half the bottle for the first time.... Maybe people should read the letters at the bottom of the screen about how it was studied and it wielded no different a result than a placebo. My guess is that it acts more like a placebo, to be honest. The only positive thing about it, is that it doesn't contain as much sugar as energy drinks, but that's about it, hence you don't have a crash from too much sugar. Over dosage of niacin, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin B12 are not worth taking if there is nothing that actually works as a stimulant. I would stay away from 5-Hour energy.
Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

This drink made me sick. While there may be theoretical merits to the ingredients and claims, I have taken this on several occasions and noticed nothing other than the instant caffeine awareness that slowly fades away. In fact, I took one about 3 hours ago and I'm so tired I could fall asleep standing up right now.

For me, I think I can achieve the same effects with a cup of coffee and some positive motivation.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Your "New York City dietitian Bonnie Dix-Taub" is wrong. There is nothing in the 5 hour energy drink that is harmful. It is vitamins and minerals. If it is in excess, your body will take what it needs and discard the rest through your urine. It wont cause paralysis or nerve damage. That is just asinine. This is a good product to take when you need it and there are no harmful side effects. I use it every day before I go to the gym to give me a little extra pep while I lift. I have been using it for months, and I am fine.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

Has anyone had diarrhea from using five hour energy every day?

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

I am a doctor. Here is what is going on: you are getting a boost from caffeine, nothing more, nothing less. However differently you feel with this vs. a cup of coffee is basically a placebo effect as the result of marketing. I agree completely with Taub-Dix. This is false advertising.

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

I am not a fan of pops or energy drinks. I tried a couple of them (Rock Start, Monster..etc) just for the sake of it and found them sugary and with horrible taste. The effect of the exaggerated caffeine was actually bad evene when I a am heavy coffee drinker.
But, the other day I tried 5 hour. I still do not know way, probably becuase it was on sale and I found some motivation in the fact that I was tired.
It worked!!!. This is why I am searching the internet and found this forum. I am still amazed by how well it worked. NO crash. I felt really good. They taste like s. but that is ok with me.
It
... work...

Zip! 5-Hour Energy packs a punch

I recently switched to from 5 Hour to Revive Energy Mints for the antioxidant benefits, I found Revive to be a much better smoother energy.
